Is there a way to create some kind of report about heavy usage ? I would like to get insight information of some of my students who are heavy users. I would like to know which applications they are using. With this information i would be able to build some policies

Hi Frank,

You can use the Dashboard and go to the application tab. Here you can find the very interesting reports "Top 10 Applications by Usage - Summary" and "Top 20 Users by Application Usage". You can drill down in data by clicking on the graphs/links. You can print and e-mail these reports/graphs.

You can also make your own reports and schedule them to e-mail the reports daily, weekly,.... You can do this in the report tab.

One off the things i noticed was the use of netflix streams during college hours :( So i have created a firewall policy and blocked this application. Thanks

Yes the firewall policies in Aerohive are great. If you need more information just ask. Can you like my previous comment if it helped you?

Frank you can also use QoS preferences to set f.ex netflix as background priority så it can be used but wont effect the general usage. You can also set speed limit ... Aerohive is cool that way, we are also using it in school environment with similar challenges :)
