Create a radio profile for the Apple environment (iOS/OSX)

I am still an Aerohive padawan learner and I am not too savvy when it comes to optimizing the radio profiles for my environment. I have no idea what the difference is between radio_na0 and radio_ng0. It would be cool if someone could create a radio profile named something like iOS/OSX where all of the settings are optimized for those devices.

Thanks

I do like this idea. This could be broken down into different environments for iPad's or Mac laptops. The Mac laptop can handle different type of customizations to squeeze every ounce of performance out of an AP where those settings don't help an iPad.

Good idea. At the minimum we need several default-radio profiles that with band-steering and load-balancing turned on. Maybe several different default profiles because we have three types of band-steering and two types of load-balancing.

Radio_NA and Radio_NG are the 5ghz and 2.4ghz radio settings. The NA is 5 and the NG is 2.4

One of the things that makes up Aerohive's secret sauce is how it uses both. Meraki for example is known for moving all 5ghz capable devices to 5ghz and therefore overloading it and while leaving the 2.4ghz band empty. The HiveOS makes use of both of them as to not overload either band. I'd rather have a strong 2.4ghz connection than an overloaded 5ghz connection.

There is a use case for steering clients equally across both bands as shown in this screen capture. The use case is "high-density" when there are a TON of users and you want to maximum connections on both radios
