Couple of begineer questions

Hey everyone, I'm just trialling a couple of these AP130's. Is there a user guide for host Aerohive NG, because the help via the web portal seem to totally misinterpret what I'm asking for and provide totally random (and entirely unhelpful) results.

Also I'm using the self certify portal but wondered is it possible to tie what they've typed in as firstname, surname, email address to their machine? I can imagine there are plenty Donaldduck@disney.com with access. I don't want to enable per user passwords as I have no radius servers to use, and cant really add users add-hoc as it will take forever and that's assuming they give their details.

Also, picture the scene, a user learns the password to a SSID that has no other authentication. , I want to kick them off that network onto another (more appropriate and slower) network. Is that do-able - can I block their MAC address even if they've got the right password (like openmesh for any who have used that)

Many thanks in advance and apologies for the noob questions but if there was a guide I could read then that would reduce the daft questions to a trickle...

If you intend to put up a self certification portal and then allow Donald and Mickey to authenticate without any verification that they are indeed bona fide Disney employees then you may run into difficulty

If you want to block a particular MAC address you can certainly do that, but there are more secure ways to protect your network.

If you cannot get what you need from the Web GUI there is a whole channel of Aerohive resellers who will be only too delighted to assist you to clearly define what your Business Requirements are and how to translate these into a Technical Solution.

If you would like to post your contact details - include phone and email contact information - hopefully someone other than Peg-Leg Pete will be in touch

take care,

Minnie

The self certify option is fine, I just wondered fi there's a way to find out what the user of each device had chosen as a user and email address.

I only wish to block a user of a specific SSID initially (although blocking full stop would be useful for persistent abusers) mac address is how it's done in Cloudtrax, but I cant see how to block a mac address from a SSID in aerohive.

It's early days yet but advice on config is a little thin on the ground - is there a user guide?

Cheers
