Is it possible to combine 1 or more Hives together, and if not is it possible to rename them?

Jarred,
Can you elaborate, please? You deployed hardware across two or more Hives, and now want to move some or all hardware from one Hive to the other?

Also, could you clarify exactly what you understand by a "Hive". A Hive has a specific meaning in the Aerohive configuration, but a lot of people use the term to refer generically to other things, for example an instance of HiveManager, a VHM within a multi-tenant HiveManager or even a network policy, so just want to make sure we don't end up talking at cross-purposes!

To expand on Roberto's point, to Aerohive insiders the term "Hive" means a control plane between APs. At its most reductive, a Hive is a name and a shared secret that allows Aerohive APs to talk to each other securely and share the data that feeds our Cooperative Control.

By default, everything in the same VHM (HiveManager account), all use the same Hive. It is easy to assign a different Hive, change the shared secret, etc.

When I say Hive I mean the list of Hive Manager Online Instances.  Since these APs and 1 switch are all for the same client in different locations, we don't want or need a separate instance for each location.  We would like to use the separate locations available in the configuration of a Hive Manager Online Instance.

The back story is that we purchased 1 set of APs for a customer in one location through a reseller, which where setup under a hive named Location A.  The client then expanded into another location, and we purchased the APs from the same reseller, they were put in under a new hive called Location B.

I would like to combine this if possible and rename them to a name that represents the client.  A followup question would be if this is possible, I assume we would have to re-upload a complete config to the APs that changed instances.  Would there be any other considerations I should take into account with this type of change?

You will need to contact support (Aerohive if in North America, your reseller if international) to fully achieve this.

It is pretty easy to move the AP yourself (delete if from old unwanted account, add it to new account), but support needs to be involved to move your entitlement keys and to rename the account or change main admin email addresses.
