Hello Alex,

The licenses are not tied to individual devices. Instead, they set the number of devices you can manage in the HiveManager at any given time.

For example, if you had to replace an AP with a new device, you wouldn't need a new license. If you bought a whole new AP and tried to add that in addition to your original devices, you would need an additional license because you've increase the total number of devices that you have.

Hope this helps!

Hi Sam,
Thank you, that is what I thought... The only reason I ask is because in our Hive we have 600+ 121s,122s,141, and 230s and subscriptions have been purchased throughout the last two years which does not outline which ones are attached to that particular AP. With 14 separate licences, I guess I would have to see what each entitlement key entitled me to, in order to work out how much room for expansion I have for each type of device (Switch, AP etc)

Hope this makes sense!

Cheers,
Alex.

The types of devices wouldn't matter, it could be an AP, Router, or Switch and the key will cover it all just the same. Its just based on total number of devices in the HiveManager, so you'd just want to add up all the licenses you have to see how many devices you are able to manage in the HiveManager. No licenses are attached to any particular device, you could theoretically replace every device you have and not need a new license.

Cheers,
Sam
