Are there any rules or recommendations for customising Captive Web Portal pages? I mean I suppose that as the web pages are hosted on the APs to use large image files it isn't recommended. But what about forms? How do my custom CWP should communicate to the auth service?

Below are some rules/tips

-- Web page file must NOT be one of the following types: *.img, *.img.S or *.pem.
-- The file name cannot contain spaces and must not exceed 32 characters.
-- The sum of the web page file sizes in a directory must not exceed 1M.

Those familiar with HTML can learn a lot by looking at the default HTML pages. To view the default pages, go to

CONFIGURATION > ADVANCED CONFIGURATION > AUTHENTICATION > CAPTIVE WEB PORTALS > CAPTIVE WEB PORTAL > NEW > EXPORT >

Save the the .tar.gz file and then decompress and then un-tar the files. You will see a list of files and images and will be able to see the properties/parameters inside.

Regarding the question, "How do my custom CWP should communicate to the auth service?"... Can you please clarify?

Thank you,

Scott Myron

Hi Scott, thnak you very much for your answer.

What I wanted to know is how the CWP page knows the result from an authentication?

Erick,
If you are using locally-defined users and groups then it would be one process within the AP (the user lookup) talking to another (the CWP). If you are using RADIUS, then it would be a normal RADIUS response, either an Accept or Reject.
