if i want to delete a user profile in hivemanager i get this error:
The removal failed because "XY" is still in use by another configuration item. Please disassociate references to this item from other configuration items before removing it.

the network policy etc which referenced to this profile is already deleted, so i don't know where to disassociate any more....

any ideas?
thanks,chris

Hi Christian, if you type the name of the user profile into the search bar at the top of your HM admin console it should produce a list of items where this UP is still being referenced.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.
But the search finds only the user profile itself and all other hits are only audit log entries. So to me it seems it's not referenced anywhere else. But how can I delete it?
Thanks in advance,
Christian

So the process is kinda frustrating, but most likely that User Profile is attached to some SSID that you are not using.  And that SSID will either need to be removed or the User Profile assigned to it will have to be changed before that User Profile can be deleted.  Unfortunately, there's no easy way to tell which SSID that User Profile is tied to...

If you reference the side panel of the HM GUI -> Hives, Network Policies, SSIDs, Port Types, User Profiles, etc...  Objects have to be deleted in that order to be able to cleanly remove objects without running into your issue.  But noting what object is tied to what other object needs to be known so that you know which to remove.  And since the User Profile is attached to an SSID, it has to be disjoined from its parent object (SSIDs) before it can be removed itself.

thanks brian,
I have deleted all unused SSIDs, so that can't be the reason....

A User Profile can also be tied to an Access Port Switch profile.  Any chance that it could be tied to that?
