Can Classifier Tags have a wildcard

I want to assign a VLAN per device starting with a specific name. Only the beginning of the device name is the same and the rest is unique per device.
For example, I have 2 AP's name NYCBK and NYCBX. Can I have a classifier NYC* that I would use to assign the same VLAN to device starting with NYC?

Hi Jerry,

Currently we don't support wildcards for tags. But this is something we could consider for the future as an enhancement.

Could you give me a sense of how many devices and device groups you expect to tag using the wild cards.

Thanks

An option between literal match, wildcard or regular expression semantics would be even better! :)

I have yet to try it but when using a wildcard and clicking on "Matching Devices" it does work.

Hi,
I stumbled over this post because I wanted to do a similar configuration.
I have tried to configure this, and it actually looks like this is working now.
Here is the configuration I made in the VLAN object:

This is the resulting configuration when I uploaded this config to an AP with device name HC-AP121-1:

And here is the same config when uploaded to a device with a non-matching host name:

It would be great if someone from Aerohive could comment on this and confirm if this is now officially supported. Or if this only works by coincidence.

Regards,
Ivar

It appears wild card works in CLI but not HM...
