Just wanted to share some strangeness

We have about 50 AppleTVs setup and my original Bonjour Profile allowed

With this profile all IOS devices could see all the AppleTVs

but the airplay on MBA and MBP could only see 5 AppleTVs

Airparrot and Bonjour browser could see all the AppleTVs.
My colleage noticed that the 5 AppleTVs that did show up also had the *._raop._tcp. service in the bonjour browser

So I added it to the Bonjour Gateway profile and all the AppleTVs magically appeared on the MBP and MBA airplay.

I also added the *._daap._tcp. for ITUNES, because I remember reading that new IOS versions required it.

Hi Andrew,

I believe it was starting with iOS 6.1 (I am not sure about newer versions of Mac OS) that the Remote Audio Output Protocol (RAOP) was required for AirPlay.

So the best practice these days for using AirPlay over Bonjour Gateway is to include both the *._airplay._tcp. and *._raop._tcp. services.
