Hi Experts,

Just wanna to understand the Bonjour Gateway mechanism, can i assume following:

1) BJ Gateway is acting as Sniffer to listen on all connected Vlans (User-Vlan and Service-Vlan)
2) When iPad inquiries any available services via sending mDNS in User-Vlan, BG Gateway would get it forward the mDNS to the Service-Vlan too
3) Then BG Gateway would get the available service reply (IP address and Port of available service) from Service-Vlan
4) BG Gateway would then these information back to User-Vlan.
5) iPad then can access the service at Service-Vlan by the unicast IP address/port, and the ordinary traffic path

Pls comment. thx.

then for 2 instances deployment case, the 2 BJ Gateway in the realm are sharing the available service reply (ip address and port of available service), right?

Then what ports are required to communicate between them? thx.

basically

the Gateway builds a virtual interface into all vlans configured to participate

listens

receives service announcement and forwards them to the other vlans

if you filter you can control which vlan(s) SA will be forwarded to which vlans

but the gateway learns everything  and stores all taking up precious memory even if the service is not allowed.
