Automatic redirect to a specified page

Hello,

in my company I have setup several IP Firewall Policies for certain webpages to block our employees to reach internet pages that they should not reach from dedicated wifi networks.

What I would like is to have an automatic redirect to a pre-configured web page, something similar to captive page, when users try to enter the URL to those "forbiden" sites ie: when they enter www.not-allowed.com then they are redirected to a page on which could have been written something like "nono not going to happen ;-)" or whatever.

Is there any feature like this available in Aerohive manager?

We run on Enterprise 6.2r1a.

Thank you for your time.

Hi David,

That feature is not something that you would expect to see in a edge, access layer device such as an AP or switch.

Succinctly, you are looking and expecting for this in the wrong place. There are technical reasons why this wouldn't be particularly sensible to implement in HiveOS.

Many surround the resource/performance/load implications of doing this.

It also doesn't conceptually work with HTTPS unless you MITM and deploy your own root certificate to clients.

You should therefore instead look to a modern, feature rich firewall, such as those available from Palo Alto to get what you're after - it's a bread and butter feature of such devices and the hardware is geared up to handling it.

Regards,

Nick
