Are Marker Maps Required for AP QoS?

I want to prioritize messaging apps (What's App, Skype, etc.) so that anyone using our AP's during heavily congested periods experience snappy performance when messaging.  I've added a Classifier Map with all the Messaging Apps as a QoS Class of 3 (Excellent Effort) and I've added this Classifier Map to 'Additional settings' > 'QoS Settings'.  However, I have not added a Marker Map.  Is a Marker Map necessary?  I suspect that QoS packet marking is for the benefit of upstream routers & switches.  We don't have any upstream equipment, just a BR200 and AP's.  I suspect I would only need a marker map if continuing QoS through the LAN.

Could someone confirm if I need a Marker Map?

Your thought processes are spot-on. Marker maps are used to allow AH devices to signal QoS to "foreign" devices.
