Hello,

I've just setup Aerohive in a school and students are starting to connect and use the WiFi.

I've noticed that under Dashboard in the Top 20 Watchlist Applications by Usage widget there is alot of usage on an application named OTHERS.

Is it not possible to get more information ?

Application Details
Report Period: Sep 11, 2013, 12:00AM - Sep 18, 2013, 12:00AM
Application OTHERS
Application Group Networking
Usage 54.62 GB
# of Users 310
# of Clients 519
Application Description Others

regards,

The "Others" category is just everything that is not being displayed on the dashboard. As you can only actively monitor 30 applications there, you would need to go to the Reports -> Report Settings and change the applications that you are monitoring on the dashboard.

You can also sort on the Report Settings page to see what applications are being used the most (last 24 hrs and last 30 days) to get a feel for what would be best to actively monitor on the dashboard.

It isn't 30, it's 7.

MY AP 370s out of the box show 18 Selected (7 Max) on the Report Settings page. Soooo it comes out of the box showing more than Aerohive has allotted for, leaving me with the only option to remove things from the list, to never be able to add them again.

Bug. Definitely a bug.

It is 7 now. Four months ago when I posted this, it was 30. Somewhere there's some reasoning as to why they lowered it. As for why it defaults to 18 in the list, I do not know.

Out of curiosity, does it actually show the 18 applications on the dashboard once enabled if you make no changes to it, other than enabling the application visibility? Or does it just randomly pick 7 to display?

From the looks of it, it picks the highest used.

My boss said (and I agree) he has never seen a traffic categorizer that didn't suck. Prove us wrong Aerohive, prove us wrong!
