I am attempting to setup Apple Classroom for our 1to1 program.  The issue I'm running into is that if I'm on my AeroHive network the iPad never comes online for my managed classes using my MDM.  I also tried the ahoc Apple Classroom setup and settings option never comes up.  I finally tested it with an Airport Extreme and everything started working as intended.  Does anyone know what could be causing the issue?  I am wondering if the IP Multicast to unicast is causing the issue?  Can't find much on how Apple Classroom works.

Thanks

Any idea if you're SSIDs on your Aerohive deployment have a traffic filter (located under optional settings and DoS Prevention and Filters) applied that might be restricting inter-station-traffic?  A firewall policy that blocks access to the RFC 1918 address ranges could also do this.  The firewall policy would be attached to the User Profile tied to the SSID.

Apple Classroom is very mDNS heavy as well.  Some information is located here, http://help.apple.com/classroom/ipad/2.1/

A firewall policy was the cause.  Made a few exceptions for Apple ports and now its working.

Thanks

It will work, if you open ports 3283 and 3284 from the firewall.
