Richard - Confused by what you are trying to accomplish.  Are you asking how to change the VLAN TAG/UNTAGG configurations on the AP?

I need to manually set VLAN tagging on a brand new unit so that it can reach the management site on the Internet.

I presume that can be done using the terminal interface on the AP230

How?

Hmm... all well and good, but now that I have the ap230 connected to a terminal, its prompting me for a userid / password.  Of course no printed docs for that.  Isn't there a reference guide someone can link me to showing the manual network setup from start to finish?

If you are wanting to learn the CLI commands for an Aerohive access point I recommend you:

1. Configure an access point using HiveManager
2. SSH into the access point
3. Issue a "show run" command to see the running configuration
4. Work through the running configuration matching each section of CLI commands to the HiveManager configuration

It becomes very obvious how the CLI commands work together to provide the required functionality and if you want to complete low level fault finding you will have to use the CLI.
