Aerohive bonjour gateway activation

Hi,

Please see the error message below when i'm try to activate the aerohive bonjour gateway in ESXi.

The HiveOS Virtual Appliance was unable to obtain a serial number from the license server. There is no serial number left to use for the submitted activation code.

Hi Shin

Have you overused your number of activations using the activation code. For example, every time you recreate bonjour gateway and activate it, the activation is taken.

I hope someone can correct me if I am wrong. Since, whenever, I recreate the BG, I see an increment in the number of activations.

I am not sure but i have re-created the bonjour gateway quite a number of times due to the server error. (cannot ping, login and unreachable).

Is there a way to deactivate the server create previously?

Hi Shin

Can you let me know how you recreated the bonjour gateway.

You loaded the HIVEOS into VMware and choosed the option of activation. After which you re-entered the activation key. Am I right?

Hi Shin

Can you re-create your entire VM Hive OS again from scratch. Make sure you delete your previously created HIVEOS and back it up.

Renter the activation key. If it goes through, then it is fine. Else, I am afraid to say that the numbers of times you have activated your product activation has reached it s limit. Only Aerohive support can reset that for you.

hi Shin

Can you let me know how you got the Hive OS. I believe if you register first you then get the HIVE OS under your account. This is mapped to your Activation ID. Aerohive have discontinued the Free Bonjour Gateway Program. I am not sure of the support but I am in the same shoe as yours for support.

Hi Joseph,

During the "Free Bonjour Gateway Program" period i have registered the HiveManager account after that login to download the FBG.

I am going to contact the local distributor to see for help.

If the free bonjour gateway is to no longer be maintained, is this something you want to continue using?

I do not know but suspect that it has been withdrawn due to the expectations of support and managing those expectations vs. the burden and costs imposed for any support offered for the program to function.

Also... I strongly suspect there will have been metrics on how many deployments resulted in paying customers and, on balance, it perhaps was not felt to be worth continuing the program based on that data.

You cannot blame a commercial company for making decisions like that, as much as we all like a freebie. There are alternatives you could switch to, or you could pay for an appropriate Aerohive product...
