Aerohive 2nd uplink and switch port securuty.

Aerohive switches and 2nd ethernet port on the back on specific AP's. Question is one in the same however on the switch could I do wired authentication on trunk ports that may link to other switches.

I think he's trying to say that for Ethernet switches with 802.1X, there are usually two modes of operation, port based and MAC address based.

Where port based, the physical port gets authorized and you don't care what gets sent once authorized.

Where MAC address based, you can limit it to n addresses and authentication on a per-MAC address basis is required.

The first is typically used on trunk ports, the second on edge ports.
