6.5r4 and DFS Channels AP121 AP330

I am using AP121 and AP330 access points with DFS channels enabled. With the release of 6.5r4 the non compliant use of DFS channels is prevented on devices sold after June 1st 2016. Does this mean that all of my existing APs will continue to work with DFS channels because there purchase date was before June 1st 2016. What happens when I RMA an AP after June 1st 2016 will the replacement not be capable of using DFS channels? If I purchase any of these access points after this date they will not have DFS support. Thanks

Hi Jeff,

Yes, existing QCA-based APs will continue to work with DFS channels.

If you RMA an AP purchased before the change date, the replacement will be able to use DFS channels.

If you purchase a QCA-based AP after this date, it will not be capable of using DFS channels.

Customers will need to purchase Broadcom-based APs to use DFS channels after this date.

For reference, the QCA-based APs are all the 802.11n models and the 802.11ac AP370/AP390.

The Broadcom-based APs are the 802.11ac models other than the AP370/AP390.
