Are there any 5GHz spectrum changes that will affect 802.11ac standard? If there are any changes will this affect 802.11n in any way?

The FCC has proposed a number of changes in the US, though I'm not aware of any parallel moves being made by other regulators.

There was a big proposal by the FCC earlier this year to open up more spectrum. There's a graph of the new channels proposed for use in this thread from earlier today:

This spring, I took a look through the new rules proposed by the FCC, and posted a brief note to the Aerohive blog: http://blogs.aerohive.com/blog/the-wi...

The rules don't affect how 802.11ac operates, but they do make it much more attractive. The proposal dramatically increases the number of wide channels (80 & 160 MHz) for use with 802.11ac, which makes our job planning networks much easier!

The proposed changes will open up the spectrum for 802.11n devices as well, but it is unlikely that manufacturers will go back and perform testing for the new spectrum with older devices.
